It is essential to ensure that commercial heating systems are protected, not only against limescale build-up and corrosion formation, but as UK winter temperatures look set to plummet – also the weather. As such, Fernox suggests Alphi-11 Antifreeze Protector as an ideal solution to guard against freezing pipes, particularly for static caravan parks and other external domestic and commercial systems.
Available in 5 litre and 25 litre options, Alphi-11 Antifreeze Protector maintains the efficiency of a commercial heating system – protecting the vital components and prolonging the system’s lifecycle. For long-term protection, it is important to ensure that concentration levels are maintained and checked annually as part of the boiler or system service.
“Heating systems are vulnerable to the build-up of sludge, scale and corrosion, all of which can have a detrimental effect on system performance and longevity. However, those systems that are subject to the changing British weather also have to contend with below freezing temperatures,” said Francine Wickham, Global Marketing Director at Fernox.
“Fernox Alphi-11 Antifreeze Protector allows contractors to maximise the energy efficiency of commercial and domestic systems to protect vital and expensive system components from premature breakdown.”
In order to ensure sufficient corrosion protection, the minimum recommended ‘in-use’ concentration of the Alphi-11 Antifreeze Protector is 25%. This concentration will protect a system from temperatures reaching -11°C. A higher concentration of 40% will protect against temperatures reaching -22°C.
To achieve a uniform distribution, it is best practice to engage the circulating pump and have the system online for a few hours after the product has been introduced. During this initial process, it is also crucial to only introduce the product into the system after having drained a quantity of water at least equal to the amount of Alphi-11 Antifreeze Protector to be added.
